From The Dancefloor – Sapna Sanghvi on Toddla T collaboration with Roska

Everyone loves a collaboration eh? Check this for one of the most hyped collabs in the bass music scene: Steel City skanker Toddla T and UK Funky don Roska to form”¦.yup”¦TODDSKA.
If you don’t know much about either of these guys, Toddla T is a young fella at the forefront of a sound which is very current, very bass, very British and very much influenced by Jamaican dancehall. ”ËœShake It’, one of the tracks from his 2009 album ”ËœSkanky Skanky’ is a pretty good representation and a staple in my record bag. Plus the video is bonkers:

Roska, a former UK Garage MC, is now best known for pushing the new(ish) UK Funky genre. Not to be confused with that commercial tosh, funky house, Funky is bass music, albeit garage inspired and with a stripped back tribal, afrobeat feel. It doesn’t make people go crazy on the dancefloor but I like it.

And this is what happens when the two get together. MASSIVE HYPE. Thing is, what I’ve heard so far of the Toddska EP. sounds pretty darn good and they’re putting on a night at Corsica Studios in London with David Rodigan, Shy FX and a bunch of others to promote it. Go to the rave in in January, buy the EP in February. Nuff said, this is how they do:
