More Pussy Riot related news, this time coming in the shape of a great new track from Bikini Kill’s Tobi Vail.

As no doubt you’re aware Bikini Kill have been one of the leading bands in the Western world protesting the imprisonment of the members of Pussy Riot who were arrested for their part in the protest at Moscow’s Christ The Saviour cathedral back in February.

Kathleen Hanna, the bands lead singer, has of course been publicly supportive of Pussy riot but this time it’s the turn of Tobi Vail, BK’s drummer, to increase her involvement with the cause having already been instrumental in organising awareness raising events & having also already penned an article about the injustice. This time however she’s turning to her art to support the Pussy Riot members by releasing a free to download single.

It’s a great track too. Sludgey protest punk at it’s best. Following a foreboding, deep noodling intro the track ratchets up into a powerful, bluesy, dirty, pounding number. Meanwhile, lyrics wise the names of the three Pussy Riot members are shouted out, along with cries for “death to prison” & “freedom to protest”.

Powerful stuff. Stream below:
