Florence + the Machine share new song and videoDirected by Autumn de Wilde, the video for the new song King celebrates womanhood and emphasises the futility of gender roles.

The new video starring Florence Welch is an uplifting work that combines elements of folk horror and gothic tales. Coated in a purple cloak, Welch is soaring above the ground and performing the kind of magic akin to that of Princess Leia and Darth Vader simultaneously.

The artist admits that the song is a personal manifesto, transcending the boundaries between gender roles. Thus, Welch sings: “I am no mother, I am no bride – I am king”. In the end of the video, love prevails, as it should.
