Sunsighs AA side
Skeleton Key Records
Released 29th March 2019
The Fernweh are the Liverpool based band who released one of the best albums of 2018 with their self-titled debut effort. 2019 see’s the band waking up to a new AA side Sunsighs to be released on Skeleton Key Records 29th March 2019, including a cover from one of the best albums of the 1960’s. Matt Mead pulls some shades on to review for Louder Than War.
The Fernweh received a bevy of social media activity after their debut album was released, going on to sell out their live shows, fans scrambling to grab hold of their vinyl, BBC 6 music also embraced the love by playing their material across the network, Liverpool gave birth, yet again, to another shining light across the Mersey.
Keeping good to their word The Fernweh are back, with some pre-summer love. Positioned within the monumental album Sell Out by The Who is the track Sunrise. A graceful number penned and sung by Pete Townshend, the delicate number was carefully placed into the bands popular live sets of last year. With the finished product neatly recorded to disc the meticulous sun kissed song fits perfectly into the swiftly becoming impressive discography of the band.
Album favourite New Brighton Sigh also features on the single, with the addition of slide guitar plus glistening piano stabs make this an unmissable purchase. The bands live gigs in 2018 were few and far between, making them feel like a unmissable event. 2019 digs a new breed of live happenings supporting Doves at the Royal Albert Hall at their Teenage Cancer Trust performances before supporting The Zutons at the Roundhouse and more.
