Last September we released a great two-track 7″ by York band Fawn Spots on our Louder Than War record label and now they’re off on a UK tour.
The band – who love Black Flag and Minor Threat but have the knack of writing a catchy pop song – will head out on tour with The Babies as well as a date supporting Scott and Charlene’s Wedding.
Writing about Fawn Spots sound last autumn Louder Than War editor and label boss John Robb said: “It’s an almost impossible trick to take the glorious rush of underground rock and make it into pop music without losing any of the imagination and energy but Fawn Spots have pulled it off.
“Versed in early Dischord records and post hardcore noise they have somehow turned it into a glorious, noisy melodic guitar wall of sound…”
If you haven’t already snapped it up you can get your hands on the LTW single in our store.
The Babies sound sits somewhere between The Shangri Las, Pixies and the Nuggest era bands, crafting classic ’60s songs in a jilted punk haze.
Catch them on tour:
- 19 June Start the Bus, Bristol
- 20 June The Lexington, London
- 21 June The Duchess, York
- 22 June The Green Door Store, Brighton
You can also catch Fawn Spots supporting Scott and Charlene’s Wedding at the Hairy Dog, Derby on 15 August.
