This Saturday 26th April, Are You Listening? a one day music festival across Reading town centre venues returns. Last year £8,250 was raised for Reading Mencap; a local charity that supports people with learning disabilities and this year organisers hope to beat that total!
From 12pm tomorrow, Reading town centre will be awash with bands for 12 hours of music of various kind and there are a ton of great bands to see, including Chicago’s Ezra Furman, Red Kite, The Patient Wild, Intraverse, Revbjelde, Echoic, Bear & The Woods, Amy’s Ghost and John Kennedy (XFM).
It’s taking place across a whole range of Reading Town Centre venues including Pavlov’s Dog, The Bowery District, Face Bar, Oakford Social Club, RISC, Milk and South Street Arts Centre.
And there’s even more reasons to love Are You Listening? as it’s not a genre specific festival. You can see reggae, electronic music and hip-hop as well as guitar based groups of various styles, volumes and fidelity.
Apart from raising awareness and funds for the charity, the festival will continue to support the local music scene from the grass roots level upwards. It is a policy of the festival to ensure at least 70% of the artist bookings are from Reading and the Berkshire area.
It also continues to provide Reading students and the local community with valuable, hands on working experience in areas including music event / project management, branding, marketing, and photography.
£10 Advance Tickets are still available until tonight (25th April), then available at various venues on the day.
A £10 wristband gives access to all venues subject to capacity on the day.
Ticket price on the day is £12 for a wristband available at the venues. (Some venues will offer one-off venue entry from £5)
