Ella Eyre: The Ritz, Manchester – live photo review

The Ritz, Manchester
October 7th 2014

Singer-songwriter and former BRIT school attendee Ella Eyre’s star is very much in the ascendancy. She came to Manchester ‘s The Ritz on Tuesday as part of a sell out tour, and whilst putting on a quite brilliant show Louder Than War photographer Melanie Smith took the stunning set of photos you can see below. Over to Melanie for a bit more about Ella…

The beautiful young Woman with the lions mane delivered her own brand of pop, soul and R & B to Manchester as part of her second headlining tour. Ella McMahon, better known as Ella Eyre, first came to our attention on her collaborations with Rudimental and performed with them at last years Parklife Festival. Ella has played a variety of summer festivals this year, and in the process has gained a large following, without even an album to her name. She is beginning to wow the UK with her dynamite personality and fresh style. I headed out to capture some of the action at the packed out former ballroom.

Ella is destined to become one of the biggest pop divas in the UK. She has already been nominated for and attained runner up in the BRIT Critics’ Choice Award, plus runner up in the BBC Sound of 2014 award.

Go girl, wear your crown with pride.

Live reviews editor and head of photography: I can't imagine my life without music or photography, both go hand in hand and have played a big part in my life. I have experienced many musical genres, northern soul in 1975, the early punk movement, drifting into the electronic 'new Romantic' era, a trip around the rock scene, a taste of indie and a smattering of pop. I possess an eclectic taste in music and a lust for life; new experiences are what drives this machine. I still have that punk DIY spirit and used this to create my own website Mudkiss Fanzine in 2008 - 2013. I am the official photographer for 'Louder Than Words' music literary festival and a house photographer for Academy Music Group.
