2. Dream Theater – Images and Words (1992)

Jon Warren’I bought this album in my mid-teens because I read an interview with Mike Portnoy in Modern Drummer magazine and thought his huge drum kit looked insane. Unbeknownst to me this would trigger a love of progressive music that’s continued long into adulthood. The musicianship on this album is unbelievable and it kick-started a whole new generation of progressive bands’
