Douglas Hart – X Film Plus Ultra b/w Pre-Paradise (Memories Of The Future ) 7”

Founding member of The Jesus and Mary Chain and award winning music video and film director Douglas Hart has announced the release of his first solo project – the very limited 7″ is released today 27th March 2013 via Blank Editions and sees Douglas join The Solo Series with two original compositions co – produced with Toby Kidd at Sleepwalker studios, London.

A – side “ X Film Plus Ultra ” formed the soundtrack to the sleazy glam rock film Nicht Plus Ultra , whilst B – side “ Pre-Paradise ( Memories Of The Future ) ” contains field recordings made by Douglas as he travelled around the world to film festivals promoting his short film Long Distance Information. These include recordings from the Kiev opera house, a bar in Park City, Utah and radio broadcasts in France and Slovakia.

This handmade edition contains:

1. Pencilled and printed numbered card covers ( each cover having a slightly different pencil rubbing )

2. Signed tracing paper and card insert

3. 7” vinyl record

4. Cut off 8mm film strip owned and shot by Douglas Hart

Phil Newall is 47, from The Wirral - he earns his living not writing about music nor playing music...though sorely wishes he could. He was fortunate enough to see many of the first generation punk bands when they played the U18's matinee shows at Eric's, Liverpool. As an attendee at Eric's he was exposed to punk rock, dub reggae, art rock, and all manner of weirdness; as a customer at Probe Records he was variously served and scowled at by Pete Wylie and Pete Burns - he has written for Record Collector, Whisperin & Hollerin, and Spiral Scratch and wanted to write a book detailing the Liverpool punk scene; however with 'Head-On' Julian Cope beat him to it...and frankly did a much better job.
