Waaaaaay back in the mists of time (well, April) we ran a wee post titled “Figure 8 Festival Announces First Tranche of Acts“. The charity festival, all profits from which go to Macmillan Cancer Support, didn’t have a headliner back then, let alone a full lineup to announce, but now they have both and, with Britpop heroes Dodgy headlining and a whole host of other acts scheduled to make an appearance, it looks like they’ve got a great day lined up for y’all.
The festival is but a week away now & booking in advance is advised. More details about the festival, plus links to buy tickets, can be found below.
Figure 8, helmed by sometime Louder Than War contributor Laura Williams, is now in it’s second year. Last years inaugural event managed to raise a whopping £5,000 for the cause & with your help, and the help of Dodgy, famous for the hit songs ‘Staying Out For The Summer’, ‘If You’re Thinkin Of Me’ and ‘Good Enough’ & the other artists on the bill, they’re hoping to top that this year.
Quoting from the press release:
The musical line-up is a cross genre selection of rock, indie, folk and acoustic sounds – with many of the artists veteran festival performers.
Joining Dodgy (see pic below & right) will be some of the UK’s finest touring acts including Brighton’s Chris T-T (another some time Louder Than War contributor), Devon’s Josie Ghost, London’s Katie Malco and Leeds-based rockers ALASKA, as well as Shock Horror, Joel Harries and Richard Abberline.
It also features some of Bristol’s best bands and musicians, Goan Dogs, The St Pierre Snake Invasion, Oliver Wilde, She Makes War, Sarah Proudfoot and MyOwnFlag. Our secret DJs will finish off the night with a set of floor-filling, eclectic mix of indie, rock’n’roll, Motown and more. Bristol’s very own human jukebox, Pip, will be on hand to perform some of your carefully selected tunes and there will be pop-up sets from some of the musicians on the bill.
(Figure 8) … will also host an indie market, with locally-made clothing, food and gifts as well as a merchandise stall for the bands playing to sell their wares and a raffle.
