News reaches Louder than War of a fantastic-looking festival in July; Deeper Cuts, taking place in Liverpool city centre. Deeper Cuts, we are told, is a “three-venue interstellar event bringing vital new music” to the Pool of Life.
As befits Liverpool’s catholic musical tastes, acts are welcomed from all corners of this island. London’s Housewives and Teeth of the Sea bring their frenzied muse northwestwards. We shouldn’t forget Glasgow’s Helicon either; nor the excellent Buzzard, Buzzard, Buzzard from Cardiff. Legendary act The Telescopes also slide quietly into town under a new creative banner; that of The Dream Machine All-Stars. And Rocket Recordings will spin the platters that matter. Quite a proposition.
Local rackets are made courtesy of a plethora of diverse acts: RongoRongo, LONESAW, Aimee Steven, Mae, “poet-come-art-new-waver” Douglas Savage, SPILT, Yammerer, STORES (via Jo Mary/Hannah & The Wick Effect), The Gear, LO FIVE, Baron Farg, Bye Louis and Foxen Cyn.
It’s a sign of strapped times – or a lunatic take on generosity – that this event costs a tenner in advance.

There is a Spotify playlist to sway the doubting Thomases.
