David Cameron has hit back at Johnny Marr’s partly tongue in cheek tweet that “David Cameron, stop saying that you like The Smiths no you don’t. I forbid you to like it,” after the prime minister famously said that he was a big fan of the band.

Cameron told the BBC that he still listens to the Smiths despite the band not reciprocating his love for them- which must be a weird feeling…he told the BBC the following…

‘I’ve now got Johnny Marr and other members of the band saying I’m not able to listen to the The Smiths. When I’ve got the complete and full set, even then, I’m afraid, I will go on and listen to The Smiths.’

Cameron was famously a fan of Phil Collins in his college days and made the musical switch later on…

  1. Musics meant to be all inclusive, the time when folk regardless of class can enjoy something that is great. At least Cameron’s got good taste in tunes.

  2. I just realised that I don’t know the lyrics to Eaton Rifles. Instinct tells me that it is not a celebration of public schools.

  3. Maybe Cameron should concentrate on sorting the country out instead of listening to music in his room like some miserable teenager !

  4. He should listen to a diet of public school shite like Mumford and Sons… Maybe ” I voted Conservative ‘ cos I’ m in love with Margaret Thatcher would be ok !
