Alabama rock’n’roller Dan Sartain is back in Blighty for Easter, with presents for all!
Dan is to release a collection of rare recordings and clips as a CD/DVD double pack on Easter Monday, then embark on a month-long European tour with buddies Two Tears.
The ‘Legacy Of Hospitality’ (recordings from 1999-2009)
& ”ËDan Sartain: Lives’ CD/DVD doublepack is released by One Little Indian on Monday – and that night, Dan and Two Tears will play London’s Buffalo Bar.
Part-companion to last year’s ”ËDan Sartain Lives’, part document of Dan’s recording career to date, ”ËLegacy Of Hospitality’ is Dan’s very own ”ËBasement Tapes’ containing alternate versions, outtakes and unheard tracks of arcane provenance, pre-dating Dan’s earliest self produced and self released albums ”ËCrimson Guard’ (2001) and ”ËRomance In Stereo’ (2002). Exhumed for your listening pleasure are songs lost and/or forgotten.
Of the track ”ËCrimson Guard’ Dan concedes, “I don’t know what the hell this is!” and of his cover of ”ËTelegram Sam’, he swears: ”ËI thought Bauhaus wrote it!”Â
Accompanying the album is the ”ËDan Sartain: Lives’ DVD documentary; a glimpse into the underground world of Dan Sartain as he does battle with the Serpientes ”â pieced together by the man himself in glorious lo-fi-o-vision, complete with commentary from Dan and sometime video-maker and friend Matt Whiston .
After Monday’s gig, Dan and Two Tears will play Bristol, Cork, Belfast, Dublin, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds and Cambridge before heading out to France, Holland, Belgium, Italy and Spain.
