Cocoa Futures – The Blue
DL
Out now
Infectious experimental pop gets Louder Than War’s Ioan Humphreys’ ears pricked.
There is no slow build up with this track. It immediately gets to it’s crazily full intro that sets the scene for for the thread that runs throughout this impossibly catchy tune.
It has a throaty bass line that perfectly combines with a twinkly instrumentation throughout. Cocoa Futures are the brainchild of frontman Greg (vocals/bass). They specialise in pristine pop harmonics crossed with a taste for the unexpected. Greg assembled a band including Dave (drums), Zoe (keys) and Jack (guitar) and first came to prominence in 2014 through the self-released upbeat singles ‘Do Something’ and ‘Scotland’
The at times ‘Peter Gabriel esque’ vocals add another dimension to the wonderful weirdness and otherworldly feel to this often chaotic, yet thoroughly enjoyable tune. Very infectious and very danceable
