Resized CBGBlogo
There is one thing true in music culture – everything will turn into a brand in the end.

The Ramones became a T shirt and the club they played so much, CBGBs went the same way and has now been ‘recreated’ as some kind of burger bar in Newark airport.

We don’t know whether to laugh or smirk as the former legendary club that was the launch pad to so many key New York musician careers starts a new life as a burger chain serving “American fare in a fun environment recalling the legendary music venue,”

We love this bare faced optimism of the brand people as they make this stuff up and ready themselves for the opening of the first location in New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport at a yet-to-be-revealed date and it will be helmed by chef Harold Moore, who runs the comparatively upscale New York City eatery Commerce.

Instead of Patti Smith or the Ramones or Television you will get $9.00 Disco Fries to a $42.00 Prime Rib, according to a menu posted online by East Orange, New Jersey radio station WFMU.
