Cat Rapes Dog return with new album…

Swedish EBM/Industrial act Cat Rapes Dog have announced their return with the news that 2013 will see the release of a new, as yet untitled album – the bands first release since “People As Prey” back in 1999 – the posting described the forthcoming album as 190% finished’.

The news was posted on the Cat Rapes Dog homepage, along with the suggestion that a single may be released prior to the album.

Cat Rapes Dog last performed live back in 2009 when they appeared at Wave Gothic Treffen in Leipzig, Germany…in a brief message on the home page it’s obvious they don’t forsee any return to the live arena, stating ’The probability of Cat Rapes Dog ever performing live again is at present; 5% – with a confidence interval of ±6% (95% confidence level).

The band rose to prominence in the late 80’s along with other Industrial/EBM acts such as Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, and Front Line Assembly; their debut release being the EP “Columna Vertebralis” in 1989; they caught the eye of the (then) Belgian EBM label KK Records who were linked to Cargo Records (USA).

The following albums “God, Guns & Gasoline” and “Moosehair Underwear” saw Cat Rapes Dog rise to the top of both the US and European EBM charts.

Phil Newall is 47, from The Wirral - he earns his living not writing about music nor playing music...though sorely wishes he could. He was fortunate enough to see many of the first generation punk bands when they played the U18's matinee shows at Eric's, Liverpool. As an attendee at Eric's he was exposed to punk rock, dub reggae, art rock, and all manner of weirdness; as a customer at Probe Records he was variously served and scowled at by Pete Wylie and Pete Burns - he has written for Record Collector, Whisperin & Hollerin, and Spiral Scratch and wanted to write a book detailing the Liverpool punk scene; however with 'Head-On' Julian Cope beat him to it...and frankly did a much better job.
