Caitlin PalmCaitlin Palm: Battlefield

(Out Now)

Scandanavian starlet Caitlin Palm returns with another storming dose of big-hearted country rock. Sam Lambeth dons his stetson.

Caitlin Palm, it’s fair to say, sounds more Nashville than Norway. With her stirring American twang, appreciation of country standards and rock n roll musicianship, it’s almost shocking to discover she is from a land much, much colder than Tennessee. But you don’t need to be sad to play the blues. And you don’t need to have been born in Lower Broadway to concoct country ballads. She may write under the frost of Fredriskstad, but her songs have the sun of the USA.

Battlefield is her latest offering and provides a rockier counterpoint to her previous songs. Polished, primed but perfect, Palm’s voice is capable of tender regret and barnstorming passion. Building to a lush crescendo of fuzzy guitars, Battlefield is the perfect soundtrack to an open highway, a six-pack of beers and a loose-hanging bolo tie.

Emotional but energetic, it’s another worthy entry into the diary of a country star that could be Norway’s Shania Twain.

Caitlin Palm is on Facebook.
