Wouldn’t that make you feel good?

Out 4th November

Louder than War’s Ioan has a listening to Bryde’s latest release from her EP2.

Bryde AKA, welsh singer-songwriter Sarah Howells, releases the second single from her critically acclaimed Bill Ryder-Jones produced EP2. ‘Wouldn’t that make you feel good?’ feels very different to the rocky grunge infused single ‘Honey’, yet it also has a hell of a lot in common.

The whole track is almost all just her and a solo guitar, and from the start it has a real country and western execution to it. It feels a lot like early Taylor Swift when she was more Nashville than trashville. Honestly it does. I think we forget how great Taylor Swift was… But what really hits home is the enormous vocal range that Bryde has and this comes across lovely in this smouldering track.

She has gentle controlled vocals which can go into the chorus quiet, but once the drums and grunge guitar noise comes in, they can open up completely engulf the safe atmosphere she has just created. Bryde has the same ability that Courtney Love had with the quiet/loud aspects of her music. Drama and lucidity went hand in hand. Yet Bryde does it a hundred times better. Brilliant.
