Out now

Louder than War’s Ioan has the pleasure of listening to Bryde’s latest release. What a tune!

Welsh singer-songwriter Sarah Howells, AKA, Bryde, has dropped her new single ‘Honey’ and it has rendered this writer practically speechless. Produced by the stupidly talented Bill Ryder-Jones, ‘Honey’ is exactly two minutes of un-bridled rock, unabashed sassy song writing and a seriously catchy tune combined with noisy guitar.

Immediate comparisons are with Courtney Barnett, but this isn’t this writer just lazily pigeonholing. What they both have in common is a knack for brilliant tunes, a stage persona that is big and theatrical and an attitude that just says “I am here. Deal with it”, but without actually trying? It’s just what Bryde does. Seriously, i cannot remember a song better sung in recent years.

Because Bryde has THE voice. It reminds one of The Runaways or Heart or The Bangles. This is a singer with one hell of a vocal that she combines with her clever lyrics to produce a package that just spits out her feelings and at the same time carries the tune perfectly. What a joy to listen to and i simply cannot wait to see her live.
