Boomtown Fair have announced that some extra resale tickets will be available from their website from 9 a.m. on the 20th of July. Since their early bird tickets sold out in 17 minutes, don’t expect these to hang around for very long.
Boomtown will return on August 9th for a four-day event spanning over twenty stages incorporating music with street parties, performers and ‘mutated vehicles’.
With around 100 bands and the same number of DJs providing the music, there’s something for most people to enjoy, especially if you’re keen on reggae. Notable acts include Asian Dub Foundation, Capdown, Random Hand, Reel Big Fish and Sonic Boom Six.
The self-styled ‘UK’s maddest city’ also promises a plethora of non-music entertainment, including comedy, cabaret and spoken word artists in its streets and mini-venues.
One of the appealing aspects of Boomtown is the mythos created by the organisers, who have given the ‘town’ a back story. Whole streets and neighbourhoods are formed for the festival, including the upscale ‘May-Fair Avenue’, which is for the more discerning festival goer, and ‘Oldtown’, which is stuck in the 1950s.
With a mid-sized capacity of 13,000 for a festival that’s larger than life, if you want tickets you’ll have to be quick.
Louder Than War will be covering this years Boomtown Fair Festival so check back here afterwards for a full review & interviews.
