Best SPARKS cover ever? Mary Tee & Bruce Brand perform ‘This Town Ain’t Big Enough For the Both of Us.’
A lot of us at Louder Than War love Sparks – one of the oddest, most mercurial pop / art / glam bands of all-time and STILL making amazing music.
John Robb interviewed them recently.
The latest album -reviewed here – features in our Top 22 Albums of the Year So Far 2020.
And now – Medway legend Bruce Brand (cohort of Billy Childish in the Pop Rivets, Milkshakes, Headcoats, and Mickey Hampshire in the Masonics and currently the Voo-Dooms) and the enigmatic Mary Tee have uploaded a superb cover of Sparks biggest and best-known hit.
The sort of one-off lock-down madness which somehow is absolute genius.
Bruce’s subtle adoption of Ron Maels trademark ‘moves’ are a joy to behold. Well done that chap. And Mary Tee is a natural. What a chanteuse. Good work.
Enjoy.
