BERRIES have just sneaked out their second single of the year, The Expert on 10th August.

The latest track from Holly, Lauren and Lucie comes hot on the heels of their Live Sessions From Big Smith Studios EP and their involvement in the Loud Women Campaign.

The Expert is a spiky, post-punk, deft balancing act between the angular and the abrasive. Explaining the song they say, “Lyrically, The Expert is based broadly around ‘imposter syndrome’ and the condescending controlling people who encourage this and internal struggles often felt. Instrumentally, we wanted this song to build into itself, adding layers as we journey through the track, starting off fairly minimally and finishing with layers of effects, fuzzy bass and drums, and the repetitive guitar riff which symbolizes the loud and often unwanted voices heard all around.”

The single feels like BERRIES are taking another confident step forward, whilst fitting in seamlessly with their previous releases.

BERRIES have several gigs coming up. There is a headline show at The Grace, London on August 12th, as well as a show supporting Frank Turner at Hull Zebedees Yard, with label mates Skinny Lister, PET NEEDS and Guise on September 3rd. Then later in September, they have a slot at Frank Turner’s award-winning festival, Lost Evenings IV at Roundhouse, London on the 19th.
