Bearded Theory Festival 2016 – First wave of bands announced… UPDATE 23rd December 2016

Organisers of the Bearded Theory Festival 2016 have today announced the first wave of bands and artists confirmed to appear at the 2016 festival

26th – 29th May 2016

Headliners for the Main Stage, at least for Friday and Saturday have been announced

Friday headliners are confirmed as The Levellers, whilst Public Image Limited have been confirmed for the Saturday.

Other bands announced include; Wilko Johnson, The Cockney Rejects (TBC following death of Tony Van Frater), From The Jam, Bad Manners, Subhumans, and Talisman, whilst in the last week Killing Joke have been confirmed as appearing on the Friday night Main Stage; Black Uhuru and Billy Bragg are to appear on the Saturday.

The Woodland Stage is to be headed up by Turin Brakes, with supports from New Town Kings, Wonk Unit, Blyth Power, Senser and John Otoway; also appearing will be Roughneck Riot, Atilla The Stockbroker, and Louder Then War label signings Faerground Accidents

Phil Newall is 47, from The Wirral - he earns his living not writing about music nor playing music...though sorely wishes he could. He was fortunate enough to see many of the first generation punk bands when they played the U18's matinee shows at Eric's, Liverpool. As an attendee at Eric's he was exposed to punk rock, dub reggae, art rock, and all manner of weirdness; as a customer at Probe Records he was variously served and scowled at by Pete Wylie and Pete Burns - he has written for Record Collector, Whisperin & Hollerin, and Spiral Scratch and wanted to write a book detailing the Liverpool punk scene; however with 'Head-On' Julian Cope beat him to it...and frankly did a much better job.
