Here is a winter warmer to take you into the Age Of Aquarius! Aruba Red is a modern day Earth mother and alt soul artist who has unveiled her new weekly online series of what she calls ‘Story Medicine’. It launches on her YouTube channel http://bit.ly/2LQS0mu on 15th January 2021as a companion to her stunning live album ‘Live At St Pancras Church, which comes out on 11th March 2021.
She explains what she wanted to create with the project “With this project I wanted to create something completely new, which was daunting as it left me feeling a little vulnerable, but also left me so happy to share my deeply personal songs and journey. I use music to process my emotions and my past, to document my traumas and my joys and I use my lyrics to hold myself accountable, to work towards creating the life that I want and take responsibility for my own happiness. That is the power of Story Medicine.”
Aruba Red has spoilt us with a double announcement – a series of innovative multi-media releases – her forthcoming seven-part online series “Inspiration Behind The Tracks” which airs one episode a week for seven weeks to accompany her new live album “Live At St. Pancras Church”, which is released exactly a year on from its original recording on 11th March 2020 – a mere week before the country went into lockdown. St Pancras Church was her historic debut headline show, seeing exclusive live performance of material from the her stunning EPs “Holy Waters” and “Shadow Work”.
The series consists of talks and live music carrying a number of wellbeing, spirituality and female empowerment themes behind Aruba Red’s journey as an artist – looking at how she used her pain, trauma and struggles to make the music performed live from the new live album.
She lays herself bare as she delves into self-discovery, healing, transformation. Aruba shares how her experiences influenced her creative practice and songwriting and each episode will take a deeper look at the themes within a particular song, from overcoming narcissistic abuse, the transformational journey of motherhood, leaving the audience with deeply poignant and uplifting affirmations.
Aruba Red is no stranger to creating highly personal work imbued with poignancy and meaning. She has established a growing following for her fresh soulful sounds that inspire and uplift. Her personal experiences, healing after suffering an abusive marriage, anxiety and panic attacks stemming from unresolved childhood trauma, the passing of her well-loved musician father Jack Bruce of Cream, and birthing her own child, have culminated in the creation of her music.
As the loving daughter of the late, great Jack Bruce, who passed away in 2014, she produced and organised the all star tribute concert ‘Sunshine Of Your Love – A Concert For Jack Bruce’ at the Roundhouse in 2015.
Aruba Red continues “I’m so excited to create and innovate with the online series and the album, which was recorded a week before the lockdown and the world changed – the last time we were all able to sing and dance with our loved ones freely, it holds such a special place in my heart for so many reasons.
My EPs Holy Waters and Shadow Work are fiercely personal projects fuelled by my experiences of the past ten years, so the opportunity to record my live songs and delve into the inspirations behind my songs for the series has been a truly cathartic process. I hope this collection will continue to spread positive vibes and sow some seeds that will take root and lead to more healing, growth and connection.”
