Are You Listening? Festival 2021, Reading – preview

Reading’s award winning Are You Listening? Festival returns on Saturday October 9th and we plan to visit many of the venues offering entertainment, from new bands to bands we may already be aware of.

Raising money yet again for Reading MENCAP (a local charity that supports people with learning disabilities and their families), the town’s annual fund raiser returns with another great line up and it’s a day out we recommend. Below is a carefully selected playlist of acts we are looking forward to, and many of you will have your own favourites of course. However, previous years have already proved that whatever route you take over the day’s event, it will surely result in a decent day out.

This event raises money for Reading Mencap, which is separate from the National Mencap charity and therefore needs to raise money from fund-raising events such as this around the area, and has managed to raise tens of thousands of pounds over the past seven years. So if spending a whole day in the centre of Reading watching local bands, as well as upcoming acts from outside the area playing across the town’s small venues, is your thing, then you may like to consider joining us. This year includes a Comedy stage to add to the more than 50 bands playing in 9 venues.

Are You Listening? has been an inclusion on our calendar for a number of years now and we expect the quality on show will fuel the enthusiasm for a few more years yet.
Come and join us.

Keith Goldhanger -- Spent the '90s as a frontman with London noise merchants HEADBUTT - spent the '80s in 'Peel favourites' BASTARD KESTREL. Spent a few years mashing up tunes and remixing bands as HIDEOUS WHEEL INVENTION. Is often out and about getting in the way of things and bumping his head on low ceilings - Will give your band the time of day but will dislike any band that balances full pints of alcohol on the top of guitar amps (Not keen on lead singers that wear hats either).
