Apple has confirmed it will hold an event March 7 in San Francisco where it is widely expected to unveil the iPad 3.
The company announced the event would be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater, USA Today reported.
Accompanying the invitation distributed to media was an image saying, “We have something you really have to see. And touch.” In the image a finger is tapping what appears to be an iPad.
Rumored features of the latest generation iPad include a high-definition retina display and a faster processor, while The Wall Street Journal has reported it is expected to run on the 4G networks of wireless carriers AT&T and Verizon.
In another sign of the impending debut of the iPad 3, electronics retailer Best Buy has already started discounting the iPad 2, offering them at $50 off.
