10. Funkadelic – Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow

This is another of those albums that you just put on and it’ll take you away somewhere for the entire duration. Therapy? has a bunch of these albums that we  put on and drift away to. ‘Spiderland’ by Slint, Tago Mago by Can, Neu 75 but this one has a sense of verve and brio to it that really puts a smile on the face.

The title track that opens the album really sets out the stall and lets you know what you’re in for. By the time you get to ‘Funky Dollar Bill’ your limbs can’t stop twitching and your head is somewhere else. ‘Eulogy and Light’ is a great way to finish too. The artwork is something else too.

  1. A lot of his choices are what you’d expect…Funkadelic is a strange, but great one though. The track posted up above is great innovative stuff like Hendrix on a bad trip meeting the dance floor head on. If I may suggest that if he likes this stuff he should invest in all of Betty Davis’s albums…they are kind of like Black Sabbath collide front on with a bus carrying Santana, Herbie Hancock and Etta James in the front seats….
