We are shocked to hear of the death of Andrew Watkins – the 50-year-old core member, along with Doug Aikman, of Leeds band Flies On You. The group were part of the thriving Leeds DIY underground scene and their angular industrial post-punk made them a firm favourite as band of choice to support noisy touring bands like my own Membranes who played with them several times and have fond memories of their gigs, releases and company.

Andrew had a long history on the Leeds scene and was much loved by the scene there and beyond. He was once considered as frontman for the post Ian Astbury Southern Death Cult and spent years in various projects with the more than excellent Flies On You as his best known.
