I know the Christmas season is coming and the pantomimes are auditioning for baddies but this is going a bit to far.
I know you were probably misquoted and, being a former journalist, you must know the way the game works! But when you claim: “I appreciate that there are families who face considerable pressures. Those pressures are often the result of decisions they have taken which mean they are not best able to manage their finances” it does sound a bit, well, patronising.
There are some that say that you are actually or once were rumoured to have been a ‘nice person’ whatever that means. You were once knocked back by the Conservatives for not being political enough, so maybe you feel you have to try harder to chum up to the cads you have to share expensive office space with. You are not from their world -you grew up in Aberdeen for starters and almost seemed normal once- those things count against you in their world.
So there we have it, you were once ‘Nice’ apparently – that is as in not the cold blooded, almost dracula like figure who emerges from the mist to slate the poor, sick and needy almost like a parody of the evil and heartless Tory fiend. Surely this image is a put on or ‘schtick’ as we say in show business, or an attempt to get yourself heard in the tabloid headline fog of modern politics where being mean to the voiceless is cheered on by the tubby, well fed cake eating millionaires who own the media and, let’s face it, the whole country.
You and your cheery cackling chums in the Tory heirarchy like to stick it to the poor, leaning out of your ivory towers and peering down at the starving rabble in the streets, sneering ‘let them eat cake’ or howling ‘scroungers’ at them in this weird belief that everyone who is at the bottom of the new fuedal system have actually volunteered to be poor and enjoy the skint lifestyle fanned on by the Daily Mail and other journo mates from your old days of writing for the Times Mikey!
It doesn’t look very pleasant when you are sat here watching this sneering- it truly is one of ugly traits of our great nation isn’t it!
Mikey you seem to be increasingly becoming the the Marie Antoinette of the Tory Party and there is plenty of competition for that ugly role! Is this something you are happy with? Being the class clown, the cheerleader for Flashman and his mob of freaks?
How can one of the rchest economies in the world even have food banks – it sounds like something from the Roman Empire…
There is this game to make the poor seem like scroungers – you’re broke, you’re discarded by the system and then the system gives you a kick and tells you it’s all your fault
