Alan Mcgee – Top 10 Favourite Albums

Alan McGee has returned to the music scene with his new label 359 music.

The label is already making a great impact with upcoming releases John Lennon McCullagh, Chris Grant and Mineral and a whole host of others. Not claiming to be in the business of looking for the new Oasis, Mcgee is releasing the stuff that he likes and working his way through the grass roots and its been an effective return so far with musically great discoveries.

1. David Bowie ‘Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars’

‘Basically the record that turned me on to music i was 12 and it blew my mind he was litterally from outer space or me and bobby gillespie thought so…’

2.Bob Dylan ‘Blood on the tracks’

‘…his best album, after Masters Of War- Dylan got told to shut it or was going to have an accident so hence he stopped being political. His wife left him and this is his best ever work. The demo’s are better as it goes…’

3.The Beatles ‘the White Album’

‘Dean Cavanagh, who is totally into synchronicity, told me to go look at this again/maybe the most occult record ever….I Am The Walrus and album tracks like Helter Skelter / Glass Onion……their best album.’

4.Big Star ‘Sister Lovers’

‘I tried to put this out in the late 80’s, Holacaust and Kangaroo are stand outs. I think Alex was strung out so out of adversity he made his best ever record.’

5. Led Zeppelin ‘Led Zeppelin 2’

‘Jimmy Page is a wizard- if you doubt me listen to this record, their best ever album and they are ALL good- even Presence’
