Alabama Shakes ”“ comprising vocalist/guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, drummer Steve Johnson and bassist Zac Cockrell ”“ began playing together when they were in high school. Ben Tanner assists on keyboards. ‘Boys & Girls’ was recorded at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville, TN. Produced and mixed by the band members, the album is a vibrant fusion of swampy dirty South rock, blues and soul delivered with punk rock fervor.

Alabama Shakes’ debut UK show, scheduled for 22nd February at Boston Arms was the first 2012 NME Awards show to sell out, so the band added two additional dates ”“ 23rd February and 24th, which have now sold out as well, leading to the third show being moved to a bigger room in the venue. Jack White’s Third Man Records has selected Alabama Shakes to kick off its series of live 45 releases. A two-song 7” from the band’s fall 2011 session at Third Man in Nashville, is due out in late January.

  1. Alabama Shakes are horrible. The worst kind of backward looking blues possible.
Old men in Led Zep T shirts that don’t fit will be in seventh heaven. For me this is NOT the way forward for music.
