Out Now

Manchester’s Afternoon People have just released Rules of the Game, their superb third single on 22nd October.

The young four piece are made up of vocalist and guitarist Finley Corcoran; songwriter/lead guitarist/backing vocals Jack Cordingley; bassist/backing vocals Mason Wilding and Dylan Murphy on the drums.

Afternoon People have had a fantastic response for their first pair of singles, Sovereign and Corner of my Eye and they’ve been making the most of being able to gig again. They’ve been playing plenty of gigs around Manchester, secured some support slots with The Lathums and have an upcoming date down the end of the M62 in Liverpool too.

2021 has been a cracking year so far for young Manchester bands. Someone has definitely put something back in the water as we currently have the most exciting crop of talent for a number of years; either that or their parents have all got excellent record collections and the kids have taken note. Mr Wilson would be very proud. It’s great to see so many of the bands appearing at each others gigs as well to offer vocal support as well as have a top night out too.

Rules Of The Game is a four minute blast that kicks straight in with guitars and drums, grabbing your attention before the front man takes centre stage. “It’s about us four as a band but more importantly being mates and the shit mates do together” Finley explains. The track has a killer melodic chorus, a wicked guitar led middle eight and harmonies too. Wayne AF Carey said of their last single, “It’s a blistering indie anthem that takes most bands years of rehearsing in damp Shudehill studios to come up with.” Well lightning strikes twice, they’ve done it again. Expect big things!

Afternoon People will be supporting The Lathums this month on the 24th at Friars Court, Warrington and 26th at The Venue Derby. They’ll also be headling EBGBS in Liverpool on 3rd December. Tickets are available HERE
