A Selection Of This Week’s Best Videos. 8th Sept.

Each week there’s a whole host of new videos released that we’d love to share with you but sadly time never permits.

However there’s no reason for us not to get to Saturday & put a few of them together into a randomly numbered list of our favourites.

Here’s this week’s list.

So what did we miss? There’s bound to be something. Let us know in the comments.
Shrag – Devastating Bones

New video from post-punk / indiepop band Shrag taken from the band’s excellent third long-player Canines which we reviewed here. “Devastating Bones” is the new single, due for release on 10 September.

The band have also just announced three gigs:

1st Nov – Birmingham, Wagon and Horses
2nd Nov – Leeds, Fox & Newt
3rd Nov – Newcastle, Head of Steam

Title Fight – “Secret Society”

Title Fight release their highly anticipated sophomore album Floral Green in a couple of weeks. Secret Society is a track from that album & features some crazy-insane violence (i.e., be warned – if you don’t like crazy intense violence then avoid).

Caution Elephant – Monster

Derby band who play “experimental but catchy songs … at times heavy and dark, at times light and playful.” Below is the first video / single from the band & is well worth a watch as both video & song are aces.

David Byrne & St. Vincent – Who

First video release from the imminent album (released September 11th) by David Byrne & Annie Clark (aka St Vincent). It features nice black & white images &, of course, some well jerky dancing.

NaS – Bye Baby

Slow paced, mature, video by the rapper featuring some mighty fine crooning.

SPLASHH ~ Headspins

Apologies for saying “One for fans of Wavves” but this is so much “One for fans of Wavves” I cant not. Big time’s beckoning for these dudes.

Sonic Boom Six – Virus

We ran this, the new video by the ska / punk heroes SBS, on the site earlier in the week, but we like it so suggest you embrace it with arms as open as ours.

Deerhoof – Fête D’Adieu

New video by Brooklyn’s Deerhoof features them (and friends) performing interpretive dances in a local park (You’re probably quite justifiably thinking “Oh good grief” now but bear with it eh?). The Band’s latest album, Breakup Song, was released earlier in the week.

Flying Lotus – Until The Quiet Comes

A video featuring music from Flying Lotus’ new album ‘Until The Quiet Comes’, due out October 1st/2nd.

The Silver Factory – The World May Bring Us Down

New video from Silver Factory whose album, If Words Could Kill, we reviewed a couple of weeks ago here.

Jon Stewart Celebrates Clint Eastwood’s ‘Fistful Of Awesome’.

A break from the norm here – a bit of comedy rather than a music video. Our “dear leader” (John, not Kim “dont tell him he’s got a girls name” Jong-il) wrote an open letter to clint eastwood earlier in the week following his performance at the republican convention. In this video Jon Stewart brilliantly takes mr clintwood east’s performance to pieces.

Julia Holter & Nite Jewel ”“ What We See

Nite Jewel and Julia Holter’s collaborative “What We See” is taken from a forthcoming compilation called ‘Light From Los Angeles’ put out by the Internet radio station Dublab.

Martyr Defiled – Nemesis

Most of this video was filmed at one of the summers best festivals, Hevy & it features deathcore / metalcore / grindcore band Martyr Defiled at their filthiest, most intense & downright ugliest. Class.

The Vaccines – We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

What’s that I hear you say? “Please Sir, can we have a video of the Vaccines covering Taylor Swift please Sir”. Of course you can sonny. You have BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge to thank for it. Read John’s review of Vaccines latest album here.

Old Apparatus ‘Realise’

This is a video for the title track from Ol Apparatus’s soon to be released EP Realise. A dark, moody & contemplative rocker.

Beth Orton – “Magpie”

This is the video for Beth’s forthcoming single ”ËœMagpie’, taken off ”ËœSugaring Season’, her first album in 6 years.

A$AP Mob – “Bath Salt” (feat. Flatbush ZOMBiES)

Arguably the highlight from A$AP Mob’s freshly minted “Lords Never Worry” mixtape is this track which features A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ant & Brooklyn’s Flatbush Zombies.

The Vaselines “Jesus Don’t Want Me For A Sunbeam” w/Krist Novoselic

Nirvana and The Vaselines have quite a history regarding the track, as explained by NME here. Last Monday Krist Novoselic joined the Scottish indie icons for a peachy keen rendition of the track.

Hard Girls – Focus on the Tedium

Mike, Morgan, and Max, aka MMM carpets &, most pertinenly for us, aka Hard Girls are gearing up for a new release of their own brand of cleverly clever tricksy post-punk / hardcore and this video, starts that build up. Good stuff – you’ll like this.

PAWS – Jellyfish

PAWS are awfully popular with our writers & they’ve just released the video showcasing their jangle punk. Check out this interview they did with us.

Woods – Cali in a Cup

It’s a well recorded fact that I freaking love Woods so you can imagine how gutted I was to miss them when they played Bristol last week. And no, this video does not make up for that.

Swans – No Words No Thoughts

Swans, of course, have just released a new album, The Seer, which most people seem to consider their finest ever. Included in the deluxe edition of the album is a DVD which includes a performance of “No Words/No Thoughts”, from 2010”²s My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky. Here tiz.
