Each week there’s a whole host of new videos released that we’d love to share with you but sadly time never permits.
However there’s no reason for us not to get to Saturday & put a few of them together into a randomly numbered list of our favourites.
Here’s this week’s list.
So what did we miss? There’s bound to be something. Let us know in the comments.
Rozi Plain – Cold Tap
Rozi Plain this week released her second album, Joined Sometimes Unjoined, via the mighty micro-indie record label The Fence Collective. Expect soft lilting vocals, gentle guitar strumming & all round ‘niceness’ (in a good sense of the word). More details (like how to buy) here. The album was shot by the Hankins bro’s, one half of which is in OLO Worms whose excellent debut album we reviewed a few weeks ago here.
Hysterical Injury – Icebreak
Second video (out of two) this week with a Bristol connection (not that I’m biased or anything (ahem)). In the week we published a review of Hysterical Injury’s latest album Dead Wolf Situation the band also released a video for the second single off that album, Icebreak. Check the video below & buy the single here.
Pig Destroyer – The Diplomat
No Bristol connection this time, just a Pig Destroyer connection. The band just released their first album in 5 years – Book Burner – and a belter it is too. It’s already been described as “the best metal album of the year” the validity of which comment you can check for yourselves here. High Fives to relapse records for releasing it & also for their part in the making of this typically Death metally video.
Local Girls – Yeah Roy
The fantastic Local Girls announced details of a new tour this week (see here). Expect more of the “Bubblegum post-punk created from off-hand female vocals, jagged guitar and rugged rhythms” that makes them a firm favourite at Louder Than War towers & that explains why we gave their latest album, Deluxe Kicks, such a great review. They also video’d a few tracks off the album, recorded “Live From A Room On A Hill”. Here’s the one for “Yeah Roy”.
Pennywise have been making music for a video game, WWE ’13. The video features several stars from the wold of wresting & can be viewed below.
Tweak Bird – The Weight
Tweak Bird have a new mini album due for release very soon & trailing it here’s a video showcasing perfectly their own special brand of heavy, raw, fuzzed out rock. Expect a (mini) album review very soon.
Pantha Du Prince & The Bell Laboratory – Photon
There’s a new album by Pantha Du Prince round the corner (Jan 14th), titled Elements Of Light. It’s been made in collaboration with Norwegian collective the Bell Laboratory & below is a taster of what to expect.
The Wu-Tang Clan – Six Directions Of Boxing
The Wu-Tang Clan are on the soundtrack to upcoming film The Man With The Iron Fists with a track called Six Directions Of Boxing. Somehow American chat show host Jimmy Fallon managed to squeeze them all into his studio for a live performance of the track. See below.
Pianos Become the Teeth – I’ll Get By
This week top screamo band Pianos Become the Teeth released a new video for “I’ll Get By”, a cut from their 2011 album, The Lack Long After. It is, as you’d expect from a screamo band, emotive.
Black Moth – Blackbirds Fall
Another exciting new band from Leeds (water?, what?, putting in?, there?) who recently toured with Bristol’s Turbowolf. Crushing guitars, melodic vocals, riffs & a tendency at times towards the sludge are what to expect. This track’s off their debut album, The Killing Jar, out now on New Heavy Sounds.
Tracey Thorn – The Making Of Tinsel And Lights
Tracy Thorn’s wanted to make a christmas album for ages. How do I know? Because I watched the “making of” doc trailing the album. And you can too! It features Green Gartside, Ben Watt & many more (the album, not the vid). But why am I telling you all that when you can just watch it & find out for yourselves?
Peaking Lights – My Heart Dubs 4 U
Peaking Lights announced this week that they’ll be dropping a dub version of this years cracking album Lucifer titled ‘Lucifer In Dub’& conjured up by Coyes himself. Something tells me this is going to be even better than the original.
Major Lazer ft Flux Pavilion – Jah No Partial
Originally Major Lazer were going to release an album this Autumn but the release date got put back till next year. However, satiating our thirst for more of the band they’ve just released a new single off the album, “Jah No Partial” which you can stream below.
Julio Bashmore – Husk
A new cut from everyone’s favourite House music star, Julio Bashmore, is always worth celebrating. So celebrate because this week he premiered a new track, ‘Husk’, on Radio 1. It’s set to be released on December 3 via Broadwalk Records but you can grab a preview below.
Swans – The Apsotate
Crush crush crush. A track off the DVD that came with the special release of Swans album The Seer. Epic doesn’t scratch the surface.
How To Carve The Creepiest Pumpkin EVER
Finishing with a bit of comedy. Happy halloween everyone.
