Each week there’s a whole host of new videos released that we’d love to share with you but sadly time never permits.
However there’s no reason for us not to get to Saturday & put a few of them together into a randomly numbered list of our favourites.
Here’s this week’s list.
So what did we miss? There’s bound to be something. Let us know in the comments.
OFF! – Wrong
OFF! released a video for “Wrong” this week. The track comes from the album they released earlier this year, also called OFF!, and the video stars actor and Tenacious D member, Jack Black.
METZ – Wet Blanket
Subpop’s newest signing METZ have, of course, been mega hyped because they’re Subpop’s newest signing. As ever with Subpop signings the hype’s well earnt – they’re rather good. This week they dropped their debut video & also gave away ALL their pre Subpop singles for free. Shoot over here to pick em up.
Ichi – Otonohatombi
We included a video from Bandstand Busking last week (Woodpecker Wooliams) which was wonderful. This week they had the wacky genius known as Ichi take to their bandstand & here’s the result. You will have seen nothing like Ichi before & I can guarantee it’ll bring a smile to your face. There are two other Ichi / Bandstand Busking video’s here.
Mellowhype – Astro ft. Frank Ocean
Woozy synths, snapping snares, piano’s & rapping. Odd Future duo Mellowhype dropped this cut off their upcoming album Numbers this week. As per bloody ever Frank Ocean steals the show.
Trash Talk – 119
Trash Talk released an amazing & quite lengthy (over 7 mins!) video of the title track off their imminent album this week. If graphic imagery troubles you avoid this video but I really hope it doesn’t coz this is video of the week.
Cayucas – Cayucos
Secretly Canadian’s latest signing, Cayucas, released this video earlier in the week, called “Cayucos”. It’s a bright & breezy number.
Jack White – Iâm Shakin
The fourth single taken from Blunderbus got a video this week. Watch out for the breakdancing.
Flying Lotus – Flotus
Strictly speaking not a video as such but a great track. Flylo dropped this previously unheard tune last week on Mad Decent’s BBC Radio 1 show “Diplo and Friends”. It’s a stately & elegant number & means we’ve had a Flying Lotus track on here three weeks running now.
Dope Body: “Weird Mirror”
Baltimore’s Dope Body are very much our kind of thing here @ Louder Than War, being as how they are a hard, pounding, heavy rocking band. This track’s off their recent release Natural History.
Haleek Maul – 88
Brilliant rap track, slow, dark, moody, sombre & sparse. Another one to avoid if you’re sensitive by nature. We’re in celebrity endorsementsville here as Haleek’s managed by The Big Pinkâs Milo Cordell.
Aba Shanti-I – Last Tune
We reviewed Dubkasm’s new album (& its launch party) this week. It was a great night (& was a great party) & this is the closing track from the evening.
Willis Earl Beal – Principles of a Protagonist trailer
A quickie this one, a trailer for an animation that Mr. Beal has made. It comes with an EP of cuts from his debut album, âAcousmatic Soceryâ, which you can pick up for free here.
Pixies karaoke with Matt Berninger of The National
The National’s Matt Berninger (and friends) recently offered up this glorious karaoke rendition of the classic Pixies number “Here Comes Your Man”.
Styles of Saturn “Youth Of Appleman” Holocaust survivor music video
Song about Holocaust survivor Alicia Appleman. Inspired by Birthright Israel. Again, pics which you may find uncomfortable viewing.
MxPx – Aces Up
MxPx released a video for their brilliant track “Aces Up”, a song that comes from their recent album Plans Within Plans.
Linnea Olsson – Dinosaur
Swedish cello playing pop / folk artist Linnea Olsson has just released her debut album, “Ah!” This video is her latest single.
The Hickey Underworld – The Frog
We reviewed The Hickey Underworld’s album “I’m Under The House, I’m Dying” this week. This track is from that.
P.O.S – Bumper – We Don’t Even Live Here: Live From Victor’s
The guy who mixes hip hop with guitar squalls, P.O.S. released a video this week trailing his album (released 5th Nov & reviewed here). It’s a spoken word piece explaining album opener Bumper.
Shinies – Ennui
A couple of weeks ago we had a new band of the day called The Shinies. This week the band released a new video for their second single, Ennui. It’s a brilliant video, well worth watching. The band aren’t too shabby either, built in that “Yuck imitating Sonic Youth” kind of way.
Death Grips – World of Dogs
World Of Dogs is a track from Death Grips latest album, the one that was recently bunged up on the web for free by the band & then removed (allegedly) following a spat with their label. Fiery vid.
The Vaccines – I Always Knew
The Vaccines unveiled the video for their newest single, ‘I Always Knew’ last week. Here it is.
