Screen Shot 2018-01-22 at 09.10.09Three of The Smiths have reunited with Manchester’s Camerata orchestra to play three special gigs celebrating the band’s classic early catalogue. The three gigs are a prelude to a full UK tour.

The Camerata Orchestra have found lots of success in the last year with various projects including the Hacienda Classical concerts. The three Smiths members will be Mike Joyce, Andy Rourke and Craig Gannon.

Efferfescent drummer Mike Joyce told the Manchester Evening News: “I’m massively excited to be playing with Andy and Craig again, but introducing a full orchestra into the mix takes this to another level. There’ll be Smiths classics in the set, but I can’t wait to play the songs that have never been heard live before. With the addition of an orchestra, it will sound as totally unique as it will immense. I’m really looking forward to fans being able to hear the songs in a way they’ve never been heard before, either on record or live. On the stage, or out front, this is going to be quite an experience for us all.”

The confirmed dates are as below, and you can buy tickets here from Friday January 26.

  • JUNE 28 – MANCHESTER, O2 APOLLO
  • JUNE 29 – LONDON, O2 ACADEMY, BRIXTON
