’30-Day Song Challenge’

Japan and its tsunami”¦ the bombing of Libya… anarchist protesters storming the capital”¦

Man, it’s tough to know what to sit and ponder these days, which is why me and my socially-conscious and profoundly philosophical Facebook friends are all obsessing over the ’30-Day Song Challenge’ ”“ a suitably ridiculous task which half-a-million people to date have felt the primitive and inexplicable urge to undertake.

The rules are genius in their simplicity. Each day you must forget all the work you should be doing, sit with your fingers poised over your keyboard and stare blankly into the abyss of YouTube’s ”Ëœsearch’ bar ”“ awaiting divine inspiration.

When a suitably insane period of time has passed and you have settled on your answer to that day’s poser, you upload the relevant video clip to your Facebook profile. You then sit back and wait for your friends to ”Ëœlike’ your status or, if you’ve experienced a particular stroke of genius, reply with something like: ”ËœTuuuuunnnneeee!’

Finally, lay awake till stupid o’clock worrying if it was really wise to admit ”ËœThe Birdie Song’ is your ”Ëœguilty pleasure’. Repeat for a further 29 days and occasionally bully others to follow in your footsteps.

So if you too have far too much time on your hands then here are the rules in their full pointless glory. It’s the most fun you can have on Facebook (well, apart from stalking people obviously).

day 02 Рyour least favourite songӬ
day 03 Рa song that makes you happy Ӭ
day 04 Рa song that makes you sadӬ
