Oasis To Reform? The Rumours Start…

We see that a dodgy daily paper had a story about Oasis reforming.

There was something about big promoters and lots of money and a show next year at Knebworth to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Definitely Maybe by playing the whole album.

Whilst this would be a safe bet sell out we were wondering if the ever astute Noel would actually go for this- the money is good and the big Knebworth statement is always a big V sign to the doubters but it would instantly put the band into the vintage bracket- the place where you play the old hits for ever and ever- financially rewarding but a creative straight jacket- albiet a very well paid creative straight jacket. it would also kibosh the solo careers- which have been far more successful in the UK than people are willing to admit- once you reform there is no going back…

It is the fate of every band to become your own tribute band but can oasis hold off? Or will the temptations become too much and will the Gallaghers bury the hatchet (preferably not into each other’s backs?).

Fractured alliances are very Mancunian- Barney and Hookey, Ian and John, The happy Mondays, Moz and Johnny- can this one be fixed? Or has the Stone Roses remarkable comeback stolen everyone else’s thunder? Do you end up like Blur- headlining festivals all over the world with a weird zero cultural impact like a huge ghost band?

Watch this space.

Hope so. Their gig at Wembley Stadium in 2000, the second night when Liam was blitzed and emotional, remains the greatest gig I have ever seen. They were untouchable that night and the unpredictability of the whole gig just made it unforgettable.
