Misfits to release new album in November
The ultimate punk rock cult band, Misfits are to release a new album, ”ËThe Devil’s Rain’ on November 7th.
The group, who have become a huge cult in the last couple of decades have had an interesting history. In the punk era they were hardly known, a minor footnote who’s releases were as erratic as they were brilliant. Due to some brilliant merchandise and some of the best logos they became cool as time went on and there was a time when their famous Misfits ghoul face and logo was everywhere- on every T shirt, pair of shoes, cups, ciggie lighters.
The band who pioneered the ghoulish schlock rock had a powerfully brilliant image and it seems bizarre they didn’t break big in 1977, they certainly had the songs as well as the look.
Nowadays they only boast original founding member, Jerry Only who says of the album, ‘ Jerry Only says: Our goal is to keep perspective on who we are and always stay true to ourselves. The new album will only reinforce how potent the band has become with time. We plan to continue as always, to eclipse the past, block the sun and drag humanity by the throat into a world of darkness filled with ghouls, goblins and creatures of the night, where we are king.’
The line up also includes former Black Flag member Dez Cadena on guitar and now Chupacabra on drums replacing the other Black Flag legend, Robo. The new album, ”ËThe Devil’s Rain’ is 16 songs including ”ËTwilight of the Dead’, ”ËDark Shadows’ and ”ËCurse of the Mummy’s Hand’ and is produced by The Ramones cohort Ed Stasium.
It comes complete with new pictures of the band shot by the legendary Mick Rock and is their first release 2003’s punk covers record ”ËMisfits Project 1950′, which featured girl group queen Ronnie Spector and is there first set of new songs since 1999’s ‘Famous Monsters’.
