Crass artwork appears on another unlikely shirt

 Crass logo watch...

The much traveled Crass logo made another unlikely appearence this week when it was spotted on the hoodie of Chris Brown, American singer and ex boyfriend of Rhianna... there seems to be something different written round the logo in the same stencil script, as a piece of design the top looks good but we wonder if Crass know about this!?

Maybe its time for even anarchists to copyright their artwork?

The top was produced by a company called Super 7 – The wording on the shirt is ‘International Toy Pirates – Super 7′
Super 7 are a US based company in the area of Toys, Art, Design & Cuulture. They are selling the hoodie at $50 and a T-shirt version at $25

There is a contact Tab if Crass wished to contact them

  2. Their created work is copyrighted as the originator of their (immediately recognisable to an old punk rocker) artwork. Further protection can be provided by registering it as a trademark. If I were Crass, or the creator of this I’d definitely be getting in touch. As a photographer who’s had stuff ‘stolen’ and misused I’m fed up with these obvious breaches of copyright. Are Super 7 so stupid as to think no-one would notice ?

  3. Maybe they should change their website strapline to “Toys Art Design Culture & Copyright Theft”…..

at least SUPER 7 should acknowledge where the logo comes form, or maybe we should all hit their website and tell their customers what it means . . . that would be cooler. A clothes shop in Manchester called OI POLLOI used the same logo to promote their shop, selling mega brand coperate clothes . . not CRASS at all . . . . I am off to find the SUPER 7 site!!

. . ..they do sell it as a CRASS design . . so maybe they will pay soemthing to use it . . . . we can only hope!

Being anarchistic in their approach, this sort of puts crass in a bit of a cleft stick situation. Would the use the legal system to protect what is their copyright, or let super 7 (or anyone) use the logo
    or
use some form of direct action?

This is Brian from Super7. Just as an FYI, Dave King, the guy who designed the Crass logo lives down the street from me here in SF and is a friend of mine. As a joke between us, we made the parody Crass shirt for the store. It was a funny joke for all of us that grew up in the punk scene (here or abroad). Having it show up outside of our little world is as surprising to us as it is to you.

  8. Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

  10. Aw, this was a very nice post. Finding the time and actual effort to produce a really good article… but what can I say… I put things off a whole lot and never manage to get anything done.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

  14. If you are planning on attending a convention in the Anaheim area you will be searching for restaurants near the Convention Center in Anaheim. Rather than looking all over town, you would much prefer the Anaheim restaurants that are located near the Convention Center. It would be ideal if you could walk to and from the Convention Center.
