10 new bands for April 2011
Another ten great bands from best new band spotting DJ on the radio…Shell Zenner
1. Kilto Take – How often do you get an EP that has a winner as every track? Well in my honest opinion that has only occurred about 4 times in a 2 year period and Kilto Take are in that mould. Class Indie-rock oh yes.

2. The Spires – Energetic, electronic and uplifting… the kinda thing that gets under your skin in seconds, as it did with me..
LINK
3. The Narrows – Dark, brooding electronica filled with drum loops, synths and loud guitars..
LINK
4. The Louche FC - Despite a myspace account with a different band name, The Louche FC are a band that are not to be missed with shoegazey brilliance overlaying an almost 50s pop vibe with the sugary sweet vocals.
LINK
5. YAAKS – Like the lovechild of Friendly Fires and Foals, Eastborne’s YAAKS (yes its in capitals right?) offer a similar vibe as Trophy Wife and that’s no bad thing in my view!
6. Ghost Outfit – I recently saw this two piece perform on a bus in Withington, part of an exciting new breed of bands from or based in Manchester that are throwing the rule book out of the window with their noisy No Age-esque brand of shoegaze
LINK
7. Christian Aids – Everyone loves a good buzz band, but does anyone that’s been raving about them really know who Christian Aids are? I do.. but I’m not telling! All you really need to know is that Stay + is being released by Double Denim records very shortly..
LINK
8. Let’s Buy Happiness – What are they putting in the water in the North East these days? There are more quality bands from their shores than ever before.. and Let’s Buy Happiness are a shining beacon of this with their energetic brand of guitar pop with sweet and occasionally distorted vocals.
LINK
9. Vinyl Jacket – Yet another sound from the North-East and in this case with more than just a passing resemblence to the sound of The Futureheads and the quirks of Little Comets. They’re upbeat, bouncy and have the most addictive riffs I’ve heard in the last few months..
LINK
10. New Villager – They call themselves an artistic collective. Whilst that conjures a very pretty picture, it leaves you will a slightly confused face until you actually listen to their track Lighthouse. It’s joyfully obscure and varied but has an underlying summery sound that you can’t help but warm to.
